did I mismap my new domain name to my blog?

I just created a blog today. I then purchased a domain name through godaddy.com to point to this new blog. According to http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/11/10/domain-mapping/ , I pointed my domain name to ns1.wordpress.com, ns2….etc. Then I purchased 10 credits so that my new domain name can be assigned to my blog and that the xxx.blogspot.com domain redirect to this new domain name. (I am not sure if I’m allowed to give actual addresses on here). But when I added my new domain in the dashboard, I didn’t include “www” in front so now when I click on the domain name in the dashboard, instead of it going to http://www.xxx.com, it just goes to xxx.com, which isn’t correct, I assume. Was I to have added “www” when adding the domain to the blog? Or am I just impatient and it takes up to 72 hrs. to totally update? Or was there more information I needed to update through godaddy.com?

Assuming I was to add http://www.xxx.com, how can I fix this. I JUST paied $10 to point to my brand new, still parked as it seems, domain name and don’t want to pay $10 more. Can someone please give me some suggestions? Thanks.

ok, update….my new domain name IS now pointing to my wordpress blog. However, both my new domain name and the xxxxx.wordpress.com URLs are pointing to xxxxx.com, eliminating the www. in front. I want to resolve this to go to http://www.xxxx.com. How can I fix this without paying $10 again?

The FAQ you linked to above explains it – the www is stripped out here at wordpress.com
