Did I miss activating something?

I was getting followers in my wordpress blogs previously and then when I signed up for a web host – iPage and downloaded wordpress and built a blog this way, now I don’t get any followers. Did I miss something that maybe I should enable in my settings? Or do I just not have any followers on my new blog after a month. My old blogs that I am not even posting on are still getting followers somehow…Thanks!

WordPress.org is not a part of the WordPress.com system, and therefore they cannot follow you using the WordPress.com reader.

The reader will follow non WordPress.COM blogs if you put in the correct feed.
However if you changed or added a new domain name to your WordPress.ORG installed site – your reader base and search engine recognition will be ZERO (i.e. nobody knows about a new domain name)

Changing names is always a shock – that is why we recommend you change early
If your old blog is the same subject as your new one – if you install JetPack plugin in your .ORG install – you can have your subscribers moved to your new .ORG install – you can also move the content by Exporting / Importing to your new .ORG install – you can also get the site redirect that sends traffic from your site here to your new .ORG install
