Did my host delete my blog or was it a bug?

I have been running a blog the hosting company Aplus.net for about 3 months. The site is http://schoolingtoday.com
Today, while I was working on the site, I was suddenly presented with the WordPress Install screen. My admin screen was no longer there. My entire blog was GONE!!
Anyone who goes to see the blog now sees the WordPress setup screen.
I contacted aplus tech support and in an online chat I was told that
“more than likely something functioned wrong either in the control panel or in wordpress, and it overwrote your database.”
I have no plug-ins installed. Maybe the most ‘dangerous’ thing I did today was to delete about 100 spam comments which had piled up. When it disappeared, I was working in the General Settings screen to change the blog tagline.
I am trying to decide whether this is a hosting company that I can trust. If you have any experience on why this might happen, please let me know.
(They are going to try and restore it from backup.)
