Difference between Dashboard and My Site?

  I’m pretty new here, and trying to understand the structure.

  I guess there must be a reason for two panels which look very similar, but also have noticeable differences.

  I go to the dashboard and see down the left hand side, amongst other things:
  My Site
  Posts
  Media
  Pages
  Themes
  People

  I click My Site and I see:
  Blog Posts
  Pages
  Media
  Themes (under Appearance)
  Users

  Is the re some logical difference between the two, and for the duplication, or is it simply a result of development history?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi solihullrog,

  You can access and edit your site from either the Dashboard or My Site. My Site is a newer version of the editor, but you can use either one that you prefer or are more comfortable with!

  If you need help with either one, just let us know!
