Difference between Follower and Viewer
-
Most help pages refer to the 4 User Roles: Administrator, Editor, Author, and Contributor. Other pages add Follower to this list. And yet other pages refer to what seems to be a 6th Role, “Viewer.” I get the first four, but not sure, from the reading, if a follower is considered a “role” in the sense that the first four are. Beyond that, do follower and viewer relate? What’s the distinction between these two?

A follower is someone who have signed up to receive updates each time you publish new content. A viewer is someone who gets invited to just view your blog but isn’t subscribed to it.
You can read more about adding users at http://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/

In either case, follower or viewer, are they required to sign in to their account first?
Some of my target audience may have certain disabilities and I want to select the simplest possible way to access the blog.
