Difference between modlook and wpcomhelp
-
Hi there,
I’ve been volunteering in the wordpress forums and I’am struggling to understand the differences between the modlook and wpcomhelp tags.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi. I think “wpcomhelp” is a tag added automatically by the system when a user asks a question via https://wordpress.com/help/contact/
If they have an upgrade, the question will be routed to a Happiness Engineer.
If they don’t have an upgrade, the question will be routed to the forums.
In other words, you do not need to manually add the “wpcomhelp”.
“Modlook” is used to notify staff that a forum question needs their attention. See https://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpress-com-volunteers/#when-to-call-in-staff

Hello –

Yes, this is correct. The wpcomhelp tag is automatically added from the contact form.
Modlook is a tag that volunteers and users can add separately to notify staff that our attention is needed on a particular thread.
As timethief has mentioned, it is best practice to create individual replies rather than copy + paste other volunteers. If you do use their or staff words on occasion please credit them with a link to the thread where the information was obtained. This will help other folks find the information in the future.
