Difference between 'New User Registration' and 'New Subscription'

  Please can someone help me decipher between the two? My blog is very new and has no followers on the social media and no comments, but I have had around 3500 new user registrations. I am dubious as to whether they are real because when someone I know for sure subscribes, I get an email saying I have a ‘New Subscription’ and that goes to my inbox and not my junk mail. I am not even sure where on my blog a person can register as a user but I know how the can subscribe. Please help!
