Difference between Page-Title and Entry-Title?

    Hi,

    Just hoping someone can clear this up for me. I’m a little confused between Page-Title and Entry-Title in my CSS. I’ve edited the Entry-Title as I was hoping this would apply to the titles of my posts. I then presumed that Page-Title would apply to the titles of my pages. But maybe I’ve got this wrong?

    My ‘News’ tab is where my posts are published. I was hoping to be able to keep the titles in this section exactly as they are but edit the position of the other titles in the other pages – ‘Gallery’, ‘Book Cover’ etc.

    Ideally I’d like to be able to position each title individually for each separate page. I’ve managed to do this for the home page as I could use: .home

    Is there any way to be able to specify each page individually in the CSS? I’m not having much luck so far.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Sorry, should have mentioned that when I edited the Entry-Title it also re-positioned all of my page titles, which is not what I wanted. I only wanted to move the blog post titles.

    Sorry, just one more quick question!

    Is it possible to change the background of the individual entries in a blog? I don’t mean the wrapper – I’ve managed to change that to ivory. I was hoping that I could get the post entries to have a white background (on top of the ivory wrapper).

    To style the entry titles for the pages individually, what you are going to have to do is use the page ID such as below, which is for the “about the author” page.

    .page-id-2 .entry-title {
    color:#CC0000 !important;
    }

    You can get the page IDs by going to the page listing in the dashboard and hover your mouse over the page title and then look at the status bar at the bottom of your browser and the number after the “=” is the page ID for that page. You will likely have to put the “!important” attribute at the end of the declarations as I’ve shown on the example color property above.

    To do all “pages” (with the exception of your post page) at once, use the following.

    .page .entry-title {
    color:#CC0000 !important;
    }

    BTW, the “news” posting page is under .blog on the theme you are using.

    For a background for the posts, yes that can be done. You can play with the padding to get the text offset from the edges what you want. You can even specify the top, left, bottom and right padding values separately if you wish.

    .blog .hentry {
    background-color: #FFFFFF;
    padding: 10px;
    }

    Once again you’re the man with the answers thesacredpath – many thanks indeed!

    It’s so useful to know that I can alter pages individually – that’s a fantastic tip.

    And also very handy to know about the post backgrounds. A veritable fountain of knowledge!

    Many thanks again. :-)
