difference between wordpress-hosted and self-hosted blogs

What’s the differences between wordpress-hosted and self-hosted blogs, both using WordPress software?
I have a WordPress blog, http://xonagames.wordpress.com/, to test out your sofware. But I intend on moving this to my own domain.

Well, you can start with this which gives you a general idea the difference: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-read-me-first-before-posting?replies=1

Thanks. I have a general idea of the difference, I am just wondering if I were to have both a wordpress-hosted site and a self-hosted site up and running next to each other, what the difference is at that point.
For example, a wordpress-hosted site has occasional ads. Does the self-hosted site have this, too?
Are there any other differences?
I am using the wordpress-hosted site to test out wordpress, to see if I want to choose it for my self-hosted site.

For further clarification, please see http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/07/wordpresscom-vs-wordpressorg/
To support the service, we will run ads on WordPress.com sites, because we actually host them. We do not host any WordPress.org sites/blogs; therefore, we can not run ads on them.
There are many differences. WordPress.com blogs cannot use plugins or upload custom themes. This is contrary to WordPress.org. You cannot use ads on WordPress.com blogs, as per our terms of service. Again, this is contrary to WordPress.org, where the world is, essentially, your playground, as you do not have to follow our terms, policies, and rules. Etc…

Also there is a paid upgrade service now were you can have no ads on your blog.
