Differences in appearance on Mac & PC for theme Journalist 1.3

  • Unknown's avatar

I’ve recently discovered that my blog (which employs Journalist 1.3 as its theme) looks much worse on a PC format than on Mac. I thought it might simply be an issue of monitor characteristics, but even on the same PC, it looks worse from Firefox than from Explorer. Any suggestions?

    thanks,

Each and every browser renders things slightly, sometimes considerably differently. There is no “standard.” There is also a difference in display “gamma” from PC’s to Mac’s which also contributes to the differences although Apple with the introduction of OS X 10.6 has adjusted their gamma to be closer to that of PC’s, but in my opinion they have done an extraordinary job and it still looks way better that PC’s. Videos system, video drivers, monitor resolution, monitor quality and such also all have an effect.

All the above can make for some considerable differences.

Oh, and add in the fact that all browsers may, and typically do, interpret and render CSS slightly differently.

This is generally what I feared — a vague sense that I can’t do much about it. Still, thanks so much for your responses. They’re much appreciated, and it’s helpful to know there are even more factors at work here than I might have guessed.
