Different Ad placements between mobile browsers

    Hi,

I am fairly new to the blogging world with the aim to monetize. I am using mobile phones of my family to check out the readability of the blogs I publish. One thing I notice is the different ads being published on every phone or browser I use.

    Here’s my observation:
    – Google Chrome (Android Phone): WordAds ads only are published
    – Safari (Iphone): WordAds only are published
    – Samsung Internet browser (Android Phone): Paid ads are published

This is considering the same post I check on each phone’s browser.

Is there something different between these browsers or is it just simply a coincidence?

Thanks in advance for those who will respond.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

Do you perhaps mean in-house ads? Those are displayed if no advertisers are bidding on an ad slot on your site for any given time, just so the ad slot does not appear as a blank space on your site.

I don’t see in-house ads when I view your site in Chrome on Android, but instead see ads for a bank in my country, i.e. targeted, paid ads.

On my computer, on the other hand, I’m seeing only in-house ads.

So this is not related to specific devices or browsers. It’s related to which advertisers are bidding on ad space on your site at any given moment, and they’re just not bidding on all views on your site right now.

This isn’t specific to your site, or even to WordPress.com, but is happening with online ads across the web. The COVID-19 pandemic has hit advertising networks as well, as businesses who’ve had to stop operating due to lockdowns around the world aren’t spending their cash reserves on online advertising at this time, so ad networks have fewer ads to display, and also smaller budgets to pay for ad slots on sites.

    Hi kokkieh,

Yes I meant in-house ads sorry for the confusion.
I initially thought there was some kind of ad blocking inherent to some mobile phone browsers thus in-house ads are placed.

Thank you for your clarification, it seems it is really case to case basis and very time bounded.
