Different appearances on different search engines and devices

  Hi There,

  At home, I use safari to work with my blog. I really like the appearance of the name of the blog on safari, the letters seem a little bolder and shorter. I am not sure why this happens on safari, but I was wondering how to get consistency with this on different engines.

  Also, in early 2012, when people accessed my site via ipad, the design was very cool, it had a single image and the title as a homepage and you would slide your finger to flip it to a posts page. It looked really sharp, since then, it has reverted back to the “non-mobile” format on tablets. Is there a way to get it back to that cool format in the tablets it once had?

  Thirdly, I find my smartphone home page a little underwhelming, are there other options for that? The “non-mobile” version is brutal on a smartphone, but I was wondering if there was an option I hadn’t considered.

  Maybe try “-webkit-font-smoothing: antialiased;” ? But it sounds a little bit like it might have the the opposite effect (to bring the safari appearance more in line with the Firefox one).   In all honesty, because every browser has its own font rendering engine, they are all different, I think they are each just subject to display fonts a bit differently. Also see :) http://dowebsitesneedtolookexactlythesameineverybrowser.com/

  You’re thinking of OnSwipe. It was removed a while back and there are no current plans in the works to add it back, but I have noted your comment for feedback to pass along to our developers.

  WordPress had been moving to responsive layouts which adjust to screen size and provide a more consistent user experience across devices.
