Different content showing

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there

I seem to have two different domains that I started working on but I only need the one

This URL is the one that I work on when I log into WordPress which i would like to keep and its contents:
    https://hydnstudiodotcom.wordpress.com

This URL is live but I can’t edit it, I’m not sure why, perhaps I have two different logins.
I would like to delete the contents of the site but use the URL instead of the one above.
    http://hydnstudio.com

Are you able to change this for me or show me what to do?
    Cheers, Hayden

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi Hayden,
It looks like you’ve set up a self-hosted WordPress site on GoDaddy for hydnstudio.com. To have that domain point to your content at hydnstudiodotcom.wordpress.com, instead, refer to this guide for domain mapping: https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

Oh yes I did do that! Ill have a look at the link and see how I go, thanks again!

Question, how do I access the self-hosted GoDaddy wordpress site. every time I log into WordPress I can only edit the ‘hydnstudiodotcom.wordpress.com’ site.? I think I just need to delete both and start again haha

Before you delete everything, try this:

Log into your GoDaddy account, not the WordPress site, in order to make the change. You may want to contact GoDaddy support to take care of that if you’re not comfortable doing it. Ask them to change your domain’s name servers to:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

If you’re comfortable making the change yourself, here’s the guide: https://www.godaddy.com/help/set-custom-nameservers-for-domains-registered-with-us-12317

That part will take care of pointing your domain to WordPress.com. The other part is to buy domain mapping so it will show your site’s content. For that, log into your WordPress.com account.

Go to the Domains page, select hydnstudiodotcom.wordpress.com, and choose the Add Domain option.

Click the “Map It” button next to “Already own a domain?”

Enter hydnstudio.com and click the blue “Add” button and complete the checkout process for the mapping.

Once both parts are done, it takes several hours for everything to sync up. The good news is you won’t have to mess with this again unless you decide to leave WordPress.com.
