Different domain, different type of blog
-
I have two completely different domains that don’t need to be connected in any way since they are totally different topics and audiences. Do I need a separate wordpress account for each domain?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No, you don’t. You can own unlimited sites, each with their own custom domain, with one account on WordPress.com.
Staff have been tagged just in case though.

Hi there,
It depends.
First, what are the domains? I don’t see any WordPress.com sites in your account – http://rockwellshift.com/ is a self-hosted site connected here via the Jetpack plugin.
If you create separate sites they are automatically separate. The only way they would be connected is if you use the same WordPress.com account to manage them – in that case you’d be using the same username to author and respond to comments on both posts, so if you have Site A linked to your username, and you comment on Site B, someone clicking on your username on Site B will get taken to Site A. Simple solution here is to not link any site to your username.
And both sites will come up should someone search for your username in Google.
But otherwise there would be no link between the two unless you choose to list both sites in your Gravatar profile.
If you don’t even want the same username on the two sites, then you’d need two different WordPress.com accounts in the case of WordPress.com sites or sites connected to a WordPress.com account via Jetpack. For plain self-hosted sites not connected to a WordPress.com account the username is set in the site’s database itself, so by default each site would have a separate username.
