  • Unknown's avatar

    hi, i’m trying to change the header image on each page. Each page i create has the same one as my home page. The theme I’m using is Singl.

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks

    Hey Brad!

    Your theme, Minnow, only allows one header image. This image is meant to be uniform on each page.

    If you want a rotating header image, you will need to choose a theme that allows for this.

    Ooh! I see you’ve just adjusted your theme to Vintage Camera. You appear to be testing new themes…if you need assistance, please let me know.

    Many thanks!

    Haha, you caught me switching themes! Thanks for the quick response Robyn. I’m trying the 2 week trial of premium and seeing if it that’ll enable me to change the header on each page. If so, I’ll invest.

    Cheers

    Hi Brad!

    You should try lots of themes! That’s a fine plan. See what you like…there are tons of options.

    I think trying the Premium trial is a great idea. Let me know if you have any questions about the features. I’m happy to help!

    Have a terrific weekend.

    thanks robyn you have a top one too.

    hi again Robyn, I’ve got another query if you can help.

    I’m on the premium trial now and building a website from scratch using CSS. When I insert a background image using the CSS code below it works but then when I save it and go to another website and then back to customise it is gone and the url has been removed from the code I entered.

    Do you know why this is? Any info is much appreciated!

    CSS code:

    body {
    Background: white url(https://stalagmitesband.files.wordpress.com/2015/01/sha-12.jpg) no-repeat top center;
    }

    Thanks
    BRad

    Hey Brad!

    I’ve actually got an easier way for you to add your background image to your site.

    Click below:
    https://stalagmitesband.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=custom-background

    Add the image you’d like, and once that’s done, you can choose your Display Options.

    I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!

    Hi Robyn,

    Thanks for that. It does allow me to put a background image in but doesn’t allow me to put it wherever I want on the page, for example, I want to put the image at the top center not just covering the whole background.

    The code I mentioned above allowed me to do this but when I leave the webpage and return the url is removed from the CSS and it is therefore not visible on the webpage.

    Cheers!
    Brad

    Hey Brad!

    Looks like I missed you over the weekend…when you got your image to appear top/center! Is all working as you want now?

    Let me know if you need anything else. Cheers!

    Haha ye where were you Robyn? my life was crumbling around me!

    No worries really, I realised the URL i was using wasn’t the proper address for the JPEG I was inserting. I’m really enjoying learning all this actually, feel like a proper student again, without the alcoholism.

    Cheers

    Now THAT is so funny I have to share it with my coworkers.

    Glad you’re having fun, and that all is working well!

    Best to you :)

    Hi Robyn, me again.

    I’ve got a question about Typekit this time if you can help. I have my Typekit ID but can’t find anywhere to paste it to add the font. From what I’ve read there is an advanced mode you need to enter to do this but I can’t find it.

    Any info would be great!

    Hi Brad!

    The TypeKit API can’t be installed anymore. All TypeKit fonts available on WordPress.com sites can be found in your Customizer → Fonts.

    Sorry ’bout that!

    Cheers :)

    Hi Robyn,

    Thanks for the message.

    I’m an adobe Typekit member, so does this mean I can’t use any Typekit fonts from their library?

    Cheers

    Also Robyn (sorry to badger you!) I have a query regarding Google Fonts,

    I add the following code to the top of my CSS but and it creates the font I want for the links but then once I’ve saved it and left the page and then return the font has changed back because the below code has been deleted.

    @import url(http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Waiting+for+the+Sunrise);

    Please help! Double font query. Double thank you.

    Hi Brad,

    I’m afraid that’s correct.

    I add the following code to the top of my CSS but and it creates the font I want for the links but then once I’ve saved it and left the page and then return the font has changed back because the below code has been deleted.

    @import
    url(http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Waiting+for+the+Sunrise);

    I’m afraid you will not be able to import fonts through CSS. You will need to use the list of fonts available under Appearance -> Customize -> Fonts.

    Hi Jeremey, thanks for the prompt response.

    I’m surprised that there is such a limit in font customisation considering that fonts are one of the defining features of a website. Furthermore, it baffles me that it did used to be possible but the feature was taken away.

    I must say very disappointed that I’ve subscribed to a “premium” membership in which there are only a handful of fonts available.

    Sorry you have to be the one to bear the brunt of my disappointment but if you could feed this back to your HQ it would be much appreciated, and perhaps the service could be improved. Or if you could let me know of any other avenue I could go down to choose a font I want it’d be most helpful.

    Thanks again,
    Brad

    I definitely understand your disappointment Brad, and I apologize there isn’t a way to upload custom fonts. If you need anything else, please let us know.
