Different wordpress sites?

I have tried out wordpress using the free wordpress.com domain and was very pleased with the results. I then decided to do it properly and went back to my host company (1and1) and found that making a site through their wordpress was different. In fact while it has numerous extras getting the spacing on the website and adding pay pal was a hard job. Is there more than one type of wordpress? The two sites are http://www.eastbournelive.wordpress.com and http://www.test.eastbournelive.org.uk the wordpress.com was easy, the test.eastbournelive.org.uk was the one I ran into difficulties with. Your help would be much appreciated.

To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities. At WordPress.com, we provide hosting, support, and tons of features for blogs. Users also have the option to purchase a variety of upgrades to customize the look and feel of their blog. WordPress.org is a software for self-hosted sites (which is what you installed at 1and1). With WordPress.org, users are provided access to all backend files and can upload custom themes and plugins.
