Different wordpress sites?

I have tried out wordpress using the free wordpress.com domain and was very pleased with the results. I then decided to do it properly and went back to my host company (1and1) and found that making a site through their wordpress was different. In fact while it has numerous extras getting the spacing on the website and adding pay pal was a hard job. Is there more than one type of wordpress? The two sites are http://www.eastbournelive.wordpress.com and http://www.test.eastbournelive.org.uk the wordpress.com was easy, the test.eastbournelive.org.uk was the one I ran into difficulties with. Your help would be much appreciated.

  • To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities. At WordPress.com, we provide hosting, support, and tons of features for blogs. Users also have the option to purchase a variety of upgrades to customize the look and feel of their blog. WordPress.org is a software for self-hosted sites (which is what you installed at 1and1). With WordPress.org, users are provided access to all backend files and can upload custom themes and plugins.
