Different wordpress web coding?

  I have tried out wordpress using the free wordpress.com domain and was very pleased with the results. I then decided to do it properly and went back to my host company (1and1) and found that making a site through their wordpress was different. In fact while it has numerous extras getting the spacing on the website and adding pay pal was a hard job. Is there more than one type of wordpress? The two sites are http://www.eastbournelive.wordpress.com and http://www.test.eastbournelive.org.uk the wordpress.com was easy, the test.eastbournelive.org.uk was the one I ran into difficulties with.
