difficulty importing fonts from Typekit to a WordPress Blog
-
I’ve had a lot of trouble integrating Typekit with my WordPress site. According to the instruction page, I have chosen some fonts and I would like to apply them. However, since I signed up for the account with Typekit several days after, I cannot link to it from the WordPress site. I have to enter it through Typekit.com. When I do so, there is absolutely no way for me to link the Kit Editor back to my WordPress site. Entering the domain name does not bring up any of the themes that you can select for WordPress that Typekit works with. The only thing I can get is the embed code for the CSS, which I cannot use because I can’t alter the CSS of my WordPress site. I have tried deleting my Kit and starting again, but simply run into the same problems. In desperation I have finally tried to delete my Typekit account so that I can start from the very beginning and precisely follow the instructions, but this doesn’t work either as WordPress does not acknowledge that my account no longer exists.
I hope you guys can offer me a way to overcome this problem, as I would really like to alter the fonts on my WordPress blog. Thanks for your time.

First off, we’d need a link to the WordPress.com blog in question before we can help, starting with http:// to make it clickable.

i was in the process of transferring my photos and movies and the system went off the screen and now i can’t get back into this site to save my movies and pictures. i’m not computer wise either and was beginning to make progress on windows live and poof we get a change. i don’t care about flash and speed but i do care about workability and my skills on here are not the best. I don’t think I want to go this new way with the new changes; its makes a lot of movies or pictures bite the dust. I have on windows live our gospel group album with about 190 pictures and people know where i’m at on that site. and they see the up dates as we add them, my point is I’m so lost in these world of changing apps that I am writing this in a check spelling blog……lol So I know ya mean good but what about the ones who has this type of problem

1. We need to know the URL for the blog in question.
2. We need to know which theme you are using.
3. TypeKit Fonts change font families only. They do not change colors or sizes. And you need to do all the work yourself to change the font family. To use them you must follow the instructions here.> http://typekit.assistly.com/customer/portal/articles/6840-Using-Typekit-with-WordPress-com -
I was the one who originally asked the question . . . the blog url is as follows:
http://boywhonevergrewup.wordpress.com
The theme in use is currently Coraline.
Thank you for the link to the how-to section. Unfortunately I have already tried to follow the instructions there, many times, and I cannot because I already signed up through the WordPress site, and it no longer offers me the option of signing up (even after having canceled my Typekit account). Nor can I access Typekit’s WordPress editor through Typekit’s site. I also cannot access the CSS of my website, so I can’t alter it directly.

If you sign up directly on the TypeKit site, once you create a kit, choosing which fonts and which CSS Selectors for your theme, you should be able to copy and paste the kit ID number in the WordPress.com Dashboard>Appearance>Typekit Fonts and click on “update ID”.
Granted it’s not as easy as simply selecting your theme and fonts, but it should work. That’s what the rest of us who aren’t using those few chosen themes have to do.

I am using the Coraline theme and was successfully using typekit fonts for my headers until about a week ago and they just… stopped appearing. Now it’s all default font. When I log in to typekit all the correct information is there — I even tried deleting then re-adding the font to my kit and publishing again, to no avail. Any tips for how to get typekit to work and stay working? Help!

I have had the same problem. I have followed the directions dozens of times and the font does not change. Very frustrating…

Did the original poster ever resolve this?
Thank you.

@thebravekitchen: Your TypeKit account is not properly configured. It’s still pointing to your old __.wordpress.com address. Please read the answer I gave to posephus.

@airodyssey: Thank you. I went to my personal settings and set them for kitchenpreserve. However, still can’t change the fonts.
Do you think I need to change my user name as well? When I tried to change it to kitchenpreserve, they said it was already taken.
I appreciate your help. -
@thebravekitchen: Did you go to TypeKit > Launch Kit Editor > Kit Settings > Kit Settings > Domains and entered thebravekitchen.com and then saved your settings?
