Difficulty loading/posting movie files

  I created movie files on my computer and they appear to be in accepted format (mpeg, mv4) but I get the security warning (File type does not meet security guidelines. Try another.) and lately I have not been even able to try to upload them because the browser does not recognize them. What am I doing wrong and what can I do to make them uploadable? I do not have this problem with other blogging sites. I have a mac if that makes a difference in your answer.
