difficulty switching domain name to new wordpress blogs
-
Hi there! It appears I have successfully imported the posts from my Blogger blog (www.groveladderfarm.com) to my new wordpress blog, however I have not been able to map the domain name to it. I realize that I need to update my nameservers on my original blogger site, however I cannot figure out how to do so. It appears that although I have a domain name, I do not have a Google Apps account. I have tried logging into Google Apps and creating an account and always end up in the same place: invalid request. I know this a problem with Google and not with WordPress (one of the many magical reasons I am switching to WordPress) but I have not found any way to contact Blogger for support (in fact, it seems as though they don’t offer support for their free features?).
In short, I need my new wordpress blog to have the domain name groveladderfarm.com. I cant tell whats going on with it, but something seems wonky! I would love some help on this.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I received this email from google apps today. When I try to follow the link to renew my domain, I end up in the same “invalid request page.”
Hello,
Per our records, your domain registration subscription for the domain groveladderfarm.com has been set to NOT auto-renew. As a result, this domain will not auto-renew on November 13, 2013.
If you do not enable auto-renew, your domain name registration will expire, your Google Apps account will no longer be associated with your domain name and you may lose all data associated with your Google Apps account. Therefore, if you’d like to continue using Google Apps we recommend turning auto renewal ON.
Please do not reply to this email; replies are not monitored.
Sincerely,
The Google Apps Team -
Hmm. I’m not terribly sure since, as you noted, this is on Google’s end. Have you tried to fully logout of your Google account and try again? If that still doesn’t work, tried deleting your browser’s cookies?
Have you tried logging in at http://google.com/a/groveladderfarm.com ? That is a typical URL style I’ve seen them used for the Google Apps console for a domain.
If that doesn’t work, let me know and I’ll see if I can dig up some other options.
Cheers!

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! I tried your suggestions to no avail (everything leads to an invalid request page).
As you likely saw in that email I posted from google, it seems like my domain name is going to expire in mid November (unless I figure out how to renew it). Would it make sense to delete my blogger blog altogether and just repurchase the http://www.groveladderfarm.com domain through wordpress.com? Is that even an option? :) Now that I have imported past posts into my wordpress blog, will they remain even if the blogger platform is deleted?
Thanks again!

PS- If I do end up purchasing groveladderfarm.com through wordpress, can I refund the domain mapping I purchased? :)

Hi Mamacita,
Unfortunately, if you cancel the domain (or allow it to expire) in one place, it can take weeks for it to return to the market (sometimes up to three months) and someone could grab it before you repurchase it.
At least we have a few weeks to figure this out – have you tried leaving a note in the Google forums at http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/apps . Maybe their staff monitors those on some level?

Good suggestion! Here is a link to the post I created. Hopefully I articulated my issue correctly. I have a lot of trouble translating technical jargon :) No helpful replies as of yet, just another user saying she is experiencing the same issue….

Success! After somehow going down a rabbit hole on the google forums I figured it out! However now that if works, I noticed that it says “too many redirects” when I try to access it from a mobile device. Is this something you can help with (or share a link with info) or do I need to create a new question? Thanks!

I can help you here :-) You may need to empty your browser’s cache if it retained some older information. For me, I can see your WordPress.com site!
The cached information will clear out of your browser eventually (usually within a day), but emptying it will prevent the wait :-).
Glad the Google forums were fruitful!
