Difficulty Transfering Domain
-
I own my domain through WPX. It was previously linked to the WPX Hosting Service. I have shut down the WPX Hosting Service, and now want use WordPress.com. When going through WordPress Pro to initiate the transfer, I get an error message that my domain is pending transfer and cannot be connected. However WPX informs me today that I should be able to reset my domain now. What can I do to get this moving?
I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

The domain appears to still be registered through WPX.
Did you also cancel the domain when you shut down your hosting? If so, then you cannot transfer the domain, because you no longer own it.
If that’s what happened, you’ll need to see if you can still recover it through WPX, otherwise you’ll have to wait for them to return it to the public market where you’ll eventually be able to register it as a new domain: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/register-domain/

Thank you, but, yes, my domain is still registered through WPX. And no, I did not cancel my domain when I canceled WPX Hosting. I still own my domain and it is active and the registrar is unlocked. I should not have to obtain a new domain. What do I need to do on my part to get this transferred to WordPress.com?

Have you started the process as outlined here?

If not, please start through the steps listed there to get things started here, then once you start the process here you would need to go back to WPX in order to authorize the transfer. We have no way to affect that on our end, so if you have trouble I’d recommend reaching out to WPX first.
Hope that helps! Let us know if you still have trouble.
