Digg 3 theme not working?

  • Unknown's avatar

The tabs have been changed to links at the top of the page, the archives widget and search box are appearing below these links, and the posts have been dropped down below the left sidebar. I’ve been out of town and don’t know when this first started.

Digg 3 doesn’t appear to be available in Themes any longer. Why? And did that change just convert me to a two-column format without notice?

    Thanks in advance.

The theme that you are actually using will not show up in the list of themes since you are already using it.

I see your blog just fine in Firefox and in Safari, if you are talking about the one linked to your username.

What browser and browser version are you using?

  • Unknown's avatar

Good–I generally use Firefox, so that’s encouraging. (Yes, it’s the one linked to my username.)

I’m in IE 7 on this machine.

Is it in IE7 where it is messed up?

OK, I might have found something that would mess up IE.

In the text widget titled “five important questions” it appears from looking at your source code that you have not put in the ending tags for the line indent tags at the beginning of each question. I also see that you used uppercase for the line indent tags, which is wrong. Never use uppercase for HTML tags. This is what I’m seeing in your source code:

    <LI>What is my worry?
<LI>Is my worry rational, illogical, emotional, something I cannot control, or just noise?
    <LI>Am I afraid of failure?
<LI>What good will come from my worrying?
<LI>How much additional time should I devote to worrying about this issue?

And this is what you should have:

    <li>What is my worry?</li>
<li>Is my worry rational, illogical, emotional, something I cannot control, or just noise?</li>
    <li>Am I afraid of failure?</li>
<li>What good will come from my worrying?</li>
<li>How much additional time should I devote to worrying about this issue?</li>

Not that I have changed the opening tags to lowercase. Also note that at the end of each question I have closed the line indent tag. You always need to close the tags or they remain open and cascade errors down into the rest of the page.

    Funny…it was working before…

And thank you! I’ll be back if it doesn’t work… :)

There was a recent update I noticed on IE8 and it could be that that update broke things. It could also be that there was an update here at wordpress.COM that broke things. No one knows at this point. Interestingly I have no problems with IE8 with wordpress.COM.

    {shrugs}

Still broken, by the way. Works fine in Firefox as noted. Issue persists in IE7 and IE8.

You’re blog WAS fine for me in IE8 but now it is completely broken in IE8.

Temporarily remove that widget and place it in the “inactive” widgets area at the bottom of appearance > widgets. View it again and see what things look like.

Not trying to butt in, but I noticed this thread because I’m using Digg 3 too and I wanted to make sure everything was ok. Mine is working fine, everything where it should be, but when I check 8junebugs, it’s all on the fritz. I’m embarrased to admit I can’t figure out which version of IE I’m using because I’m on Vista and all it says under Properties is “Internet Explorer.”

  • Unknown's avatar

Oh, my blog is misspreservation.com–thought I was linked on my name already.

  • Unknown's avatar

If you are on Vista, then you are on IE8. On the “help” menu there should be an “about Internet Explorer” selection that will give you the version you are using.

That worked. Too bad about it, though. I’m still unclear as to why it was fine before July…
