digg short code.
-
I am trying to add the digg button to my posts. I have followed the directions to a “T” and am coming up short. Admittedly I am not computer savvy so I am having an issue as to where and how to put the short code [digg= ]. Any suggestions.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

10) Now come back to your post on WordPress.com. Edit the post and add the shortcode [digg= ] with the URL from step 9.
11) Publish the post
Now if you want to have a broader reach than just digg, and if you are a PC user, may I suggest looking at GetSocial, which will automatically generate links to all the major social networking sites.

That is where I am having trouble. I don’t know what it should look like to put it in my post. I know what the url should look like but where and how does the short code look with the url. Forgive my ignorance here.

It looks like [digg=URL] such as [digg=http://raincoastermedia.com/2009/05/08/brussels-sprouts-and-unicorns-book-launch/]

Thanks for the help. I followed the steps perfectly and did the code just like it was shown but all I get is code on the post in the visual instead of a button. Also on the page it looks just like this [Digg] instead of button.

I put in the code and I am still getting [Digg] on the actual post. This is what I am putting in exactly. [digg=http://soupalaxy.wordpress.com/2009/05/10/heres-to-my-mother-and-the-joke-she-played-on-me/]

The FAQ is incorrect. You don’t put the URL of the original post, but the Digg URL.
Once you have the details entered in Digg, it has a URL like: http://digg.com/business_finance/10_Tips_For_New_Freelancers. Once you’ve done the dupe test and pressed “Totally original”, you can get the URL by copying the link from the ‘Favourite’ option on the Digg submission success screen
That’s the one you need to put in the [digg=] tag. It works fine with that.

If you’re hosting wordpress yourself, the shortcode for WordPress.COM will never work. See the WordPress.ORG forums for support on that.

Hi, I also have a wordpress.com blog, have been publishing in visual editor and I have been having the same problem as erichardville even after following the steps exactly.
I have [digg=http://digg.com/food_drink/Preparing_for_Babies_in_Your_Food_Storage] but it shows up once I publish as [digg].
Help!

The site linked to your name is not a WordPress.com blog and the instructions will not work there.
