Digg3 customizing ‘home’ tab
-
My blog is http://bearriver.wordpress.com
I’m using a Digg3 theme and I have 3 questions:1. How can I change the page/tab that reads ‘home’ to read ‘blog’?
2. How can I change the green colour inside of the tabs to white of to a lighter shade. I really hate that green.
3. Is wordpress.com considering offering another 3 column theme with a customizable header?
Thanks so much!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

(1) You can’t edit the “Home” tab.
Several themes have a special header tab, usually “Home”, occasionally “Homepage” or “Front Page” or “Blog” or an image that’s not a page such as those you create but a link back to the blog front (the main blog URL, which can be your latest posts or a static page). That tab is hard-coded into the theme: you cannot edit or remove it (except in Motion). See > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/category/homefrontblog-tab/
(2) I believe that any color changes must be made by purchasing a CSS upgrade and doing the work yourself.
(3) We volunteers do not get any prior notice of themes being considered for adatation so they can run on wordpress.com software. This is the theme recommendation thread > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/theme-recommendations?replies=349

Thank you SOOO much Timethief!
2.I have purchased the CSS upgrade and have been playing with that a bit.
1.That is such a shame about the “home” link because I have set it up like a website witht the home/blog as the front page. I’m not sure that it will be obvious to users where to find the blog information. I wish there was a work around.
3.I will definitely recommend the theme in the forum

H there,
I see you changed themes and I also see some very nice photographs. Best wishes for happy blogging. :) -
I think you are looking at my ‘life adventure’ blog which is:
http//floramary.wordpress.comThe blog that I have just created for our little village has the Digg3 theme and that’s the one that I’d hoped I could change the ‘home’ button to read ‘blog’
http://bearriver.wordpress.comMy art studio blog also uses Digg3 and that’s the one I bought the CSS upgrade for, although I haven’t changed anything yet.
http://greenwillowstudio.wordpress.comI love WordPress. What would life be without it!
Thanks again!

w00t! You’re a Canuck and an artist and living in a small community like I am. I’m on the opposite coast in the gulf islands, in BC. I’m a semi-retired artist (sumei painter) and jill of many trades mostly focused on research and writing. :)

Cool! Aren’t we all Canucks underneath! lol!
Wow, the Gulf Islands……lucky you! Your site is wonderful too….lots of great information for we bloggers. Also, thanks for volunteering your time to answer questions here. -
Many Canucks maybe coastal but very few are eccentric back country gulf island gumbooters. My lifestyle is basic – draw water from well, split firewood and kindling. The truth is I live in Canada’s Hawaii but shhhh…. don’t tell anyone ‘cuz they may want to up and move here. lol!
I ♥ your studio blog. Painting by together by Skype — what a wonderful collaboration that is. I’ll be visiting again for sure, for sure.

And I thought I lived in paradise! Actually, we do here….except for the black flies and ticks in the spring!
-
Nah … you don’t live paradise but it’s okay to think that you do. Far be it from me to mention that the east coast is by far colder than the west coast is. Oh, and BTW we don’t have any blackflies either … lol!
-
It’s true that we have a colder year overall, but I’m told that BC gets a lot of rain and there is of course the cost-of-real-estate factor. It is way less expensive out here. Paradise is a state of mind. Some peeps have it on the prairies with all that open sky.
I have a question about wordpress. K, so I paid my money to be able to tinker with the CSS on my blog called http://greenwillowstudio.wordpress.com
BUT, I changed the theme to vigilance. When I look at the CSS from the dashboard, it doesn’t show me the entire code like the Digg3 theme did. However there is a cryptic message that says to ‘Make all custom CSS changes in a Child Theme.”Have I lost the edit ability because I changed themes?
Thanks!

On-Topic
When it comes to CSS editing you want to get the attention of devblog and/or thesacredpath. That means you will have to start another thread in the CSS customization forum and repeat what you did above.Off-Topic
Granted that paradise is a state of mind, but the views out of every window in my home are breathtaking, aside from my fences there’s not a man made object or human being in sight, and that assists me to make the happiness choice even when it’s pouring buckets. :)
