digstar – a major threat to our blogs and home machines? (12 July 2013

digstar – a major threat to our blogs and home machines? I just ran a Google search on a ‘referrer’ named digstar(dot)com. The up-to-date Google hits were only 2 and 4 days old and had very ominous sounding headlines and notes. I checked one of these links, ‘uninstall digstar’ at spyhunterUS(dot)com which also described horrific consequences for entanglement with digstar.
I’m pretty well protected in that I operate my PC as ‘user’, with a number of ‘admin’ access avenues out of reach to incoming threats – but digstar does not sound good!
Thanks for anything info you can give us on this. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No – was not aware – and please delete my post on public forum if possible – or edit out critical info, …? At the minute I posted here, I saw the ‘if you have a security concern’ alternative below. My 2nd step was to copy/paste my note to that resource – will check the link you’ve provided, assume I’ll find it’s the one I’ve already sent to, on heels of one the post here at public forum. Your reply to me, is unsettling – but thanks – I needed to be informed!!!

I’ll tag this thread for Staff. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

timethief – I think you were guiding me to work my way through query options to reach the ‘if you have a security concern … we take security very seriously … please report here..” which shows up if I ‘exhaust’ other options? If so, then, yes – it’s the one I reported to – so I did not send a 2nd (identical) report to ‘security concerns’. Thanks again for your quick and important input!

Just caught your ‘will tag thread for staff’ note. Will follow through and will be patient … thank you!!

Hi there!
I have responded to your email inquiry. Please direct any responses to that email.
Thank you!

csonnek: I apologize for being so dense but ‘to that email’ is cryptic to me. Has a more informative reply been posted somewhere that I might read it – and can you by any chance, if it’s meant to be out of public forum, send a link to my personal email (as allowed me to get an alert to your ‘have responded’ note posted here.) Thank you!

You contacted staff via email. Staff replied that they have sent an email in return. Reply to that email if you have or need more information.

‘Duh’ – found it in my inbox, missed it as was looking for different ‘sender’ details. Gratitude and thanks to each of you!
