dip in traffic

  • Unknown's avatar

Hello, I’ve been working with an SEO firm for about 9 months now. They were able to grow my traffic from about 1,000 to 30,000 VPM, but because of the patterns of the traffic spikes, I questioned whether these were real people or bots. About a month ago, my traffic plummeted and they said it was due to an algorithm change. They’ve determined that because of the ‘lack of AMP compatibility’ of my site and other ‘publisher sites’ like mine, I will not be able to grow my traffic unless I do a complete re-design. Any thoughts?

    hi,

“grow my traffic from about 1,000 to 30,000 VPM”
You were wise to question the ‘humanness’ of the traffic.

“will not be able to grow my traffic unless I do a complete re-design. Any thoughts?”
My thoughts are you should be very wary of them.

I do note that your website is hosted on 1&1.

Our advice is most relevant to websites hosted on WordPress.com.

All WordPress.com sites are automatically configured for SEO and all our themes are optimized for SEO.
This means you will not have to worry about or spend money on SEO.
Instead you concentrate on building content on your website.

To clear up any confusion, there are 2 versions of WordPress. WordPress.com is a managed environment different from using the open source WordPress installation. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two, different entities.

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org
