diplay only post on a static page

Hello,
I’m using the sight theme on pergolachiara.com. I’m actually having as an home page, a page displaying the last articles. If I change to a static front page I noticed that both articles and pages are displayed: is it possible to have only articles in another page? I mean, having a static front page (ex. my page ‘works’) and another latest news page displaying only articles (and not both articles and pages)?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m not sure I fully understand the display you’re describing. When I set the front page on the Sight theme to a static page, I don’t see the recent blog posts. Those are on the separate page set as the Posts Page. Could you perhaps set this up again on your site so I can take a look?

I cannot set up the static page now, because the blog is already in use and I need to be sure that it looks fine until I properly understood how to change it, sorry… but what I would like to have is precisely the situation you describe: a static page and a separate post page, but I need to have only articles displayed on the separate post page, whereas now, if try this setting, on the posts page I get both articles and every new page.
If still the issue is not clear, I will try to set up the static page, abd will remove it as soon as I get your answer.

That’s a picture of my front page (with no posts). The Posts Page is actually the page titled “Blog” that you’ll see in my menu. Can you give those steps linked above a try?

Thanks for yourcreply and for the example: This is what I tryed, and I get the front page with no posts, this is ok. The problem is that on the post page (the one you called “blog”) are displayed not only the new articles, but also every new page that I create. I mean that if I create a new page, it comes out in the blog page as if it was an article. I would like to have only articles in the blog page (exactly as I have now with the latest entries). Is there something else I should change?

The Posts Page shouldn’t show any of your pages here:

It should only display your Posts here:

I just gave this another test and the Posts Page only displays blog posts so I’m unable to reproduce the issue you describe. Could you set this up by chance so I can take a look? If you don’t want to leave it enabled, can you just take a screenshot of the Posts Page displaying incorrectly and upload it to your Media Library? Screenshot instructions can be found here:

Hi! Now I got it! :-) I understood what the problem was: if I set the menu as you suggest everything is ok and only articles are displayed in the post page (I set it up like this now: I will leave as it is for 12 hours, so you can take a look, then I’ll decide whether to keep it or not). The issue comes up when I set up the post page (the one I called “news”) both as a front page and as the post page – by checking the same “news” page twice as you can see here: https://pergolaxchiara.files.wordpress.com/2015/05/post-page-wordpress.jpg?w=1200

Thanks for clarifying Chiara! Yes – that will cause an issue. Those aren’t meant to be the same page. You would ideally set two different pages – Front Page as “Home” and Posts Page as “News”.
