Disable Comments without Premium

  Can I disable comments if I do not have a premium account? Is it also possible to delete the “hosted by wordpress” if I do not have a premium account? If I purchase one, how can I delete those comments? Thanks!

  You can disable comments by logging into your site’s dashboard and going to Settings–>Discussion and unchecking the “allow people to post comments on new articles” box. Don’t forget to scroll to the bottom and click the “save” button.

  You will have to go into each previously published page and posts to disable the comments on each page. See here for doing that.

  Hi, Thank you for your reply, but the comments on the already published pages are not coming off. I did follow the instructions, uncheck the boxes and did hit save. What should I do?

  Have you done this:

  You will have to go into each previously published page and posts to disable the comments on each page. See here for doing that. http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/

  The toggle at Settings–>Discussion only applies to future pages. It cannot undo existing pages that already have comments.

  I went to the screen options and unclicked the comments box, but as soon as I hit update the changes do not save…

  You want to scroll down further and look for the “discussion” box. Here’s a screenshot:

  

  The “screen options” area just lets you adjust what is shown to you as the admin on that “edit” page. Not the public blog post itself.
