Disable Emoticons
-
Hey everyone,
I’m having issues with my WordPress.com blog showing emoticons/smileys/smilies/emojis when I’d rather it not. Googling the topic brings me this page, but when trying to follow the instructions I don’t have the same options listed (presumably the guide was written for an older dashboard). Not sure if this matters, but this is my setup:
– Theme: Monochrome
– Browser: Firefox 40.0.3
– OS: Windows 7 Home PremiumAny help would be appreciated!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I never enable emoticons because they make any blog look unprofessional, childish and amateurish.
Disable them on this page http://imissbionix.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-writing.php
Formatting
__Convert emoticons like :-) and :-P to graphics on display -
While you are at it on that same page enable the setting immediately below that to avoid future copy and past type issues.
_ WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically -
Thanks timethief, that did just what I needed!
While it’s been a few years since I started the blog, I really don’t remember enabling emoticons. Oh well.
