Disable Main Menu Navigation – Show only Submenus
-
Under several of my main menu bar links I have submenu pages. I would like it so when you scroll over the menu bar that if it has submenu pages the main menu link does not open – but just shows the submenu pages.
For example, under Sarasota Tennis Lessons, I have several pages listed. I don’t want Sarasota Tennis Lessons to open; just reveal the submenu pages when scrolled over.
Is this possible with wordpress.com?
Thanks for your time

You need to create and load a custom top nav menu:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/1.Go to Appearance > Menus, create a menu, give it a name (say, “My top menu”).
2.Click View all in the Pages module, select all the pages except “Sarasota Tennis Lessons” and “About Eric” (possibly “Articles” too, if you don’t need the blurb you’ve posted in it), click Add to Menu.
3. For those two or three top level items create custom links instead:
a) Custom Links module: type something next to http in the URL field, type the title in the Label field, click Add to Menu.
b) Menu module: open this new Custom link, delete everything in the URL field.4. Drag items vertically to rearrange their order, drag them horizontally to create dropdowns (see the Support doc I linked to).
5. Click Save Menu, select that menu from the pulldown in the Theme Locations module, click Save.

Thanks so much for outlining all of that! It took me just a bit to understand 3a and 3b – wasn’t sure if they were in that same Appearance/Menu location – but once I got that, smooth sailing. Really appreciate your time and detailed answer.

You’re welcome. It’s rather complicated when you’re not used to it – glad you completed it successfully!
