Disable this new customizer so I can see/add/change widget content

I tried to get help already with this.
I am no longer able to view or change any of my widget content. Before it was easy until this high-tech “customizer” window began to appear which doesn’t work.
When I select appearance/ widgets they say they will not appear.
Your theme has 2 other widget areas, but this particular page doesn’t display them.

You can navigate to other pages on your site while using the Customizer to view and edit the widgets displayed on those pages.

When I select sidebar, I see my widgets as titles and it is possible to alter their order but impossible to view or change any widget content. Your instructions say to hit the arrow to see content but it does not work.

Please help me change my account back to the regular way that actually made it possible to work with this blog. Please investigate why none of these widgets appear with this new “customizer”. I have read your help section and nothing there makes sense as it says the arrow next to the widget should display the content but it does nothing. I am only able to see widget titles and order.
I only use the internet a couple times a week. Please do not make it difficult by asking me jargon or asking my for screenshots. I do not use a computer only an old Samsung tablet.
Please fix my account by restoring the former system that was easy and actually worked.
Please help me to get my control over my content back. I am basically locked out with this “customizer window”.

  • Your instructions say to hit the arrow to see content but it does not work.

    That should definitely work: https://wordpress.com/support/widgets/#adding-and-configuring-widgets

First, please make sure that your browser is up to date: https://browsehappy.com/

If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.

If it is, please do these two things:

    1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.

    2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

    @octaevious,

Please help me change my account back to the regular way that actually made it possible to work with this blog.

WordPress.com has recently combined the Calypso and WP-Admin sidebars into one, as described in the forum topic Unified Navigation. The damage can be partially remedied by choosing the “Show advanced dashboard pages” at Account Settings > Dashboard Appearance, as described in the Dashboard Appearance section of the Account Settings support page.

The Classic Editor is still available to all WordPress.com users. Here’s the Classic Editor support page, and the recently revised How to Access the Classic Editor section of that support page.

Before it was easy until this high-tech “customizer” window began to appear which doesn’t work.

It’s not necessary to manage widgets in the Customizer. If you enable “Show advanced dashboard pages” as indicated above, then you’ll have easy access to the WP-Admin Widgets (manager) page that you’re evidently familiar with.

    THANKS

Enabling the show advanced pages was all it needed. Now it works perfectly.
