Disable visibility of widgets on posts (blog) page

Hi, Can I hide a text widget or even any widget on my posts page? My home page is not the page with the latest posts. I’ve created a blog page for the posts. I find I can hide the text widget on all pages but the blog one. Is there a way to hide it there also? I work with the Misty Lake theme.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It sounds like you are familiar with the widget visibility options outlined here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/#widget-visibility, is that true?

If so, what happens when you set the widgets in question to “hide” if “page” is “posts page”?

I was able to get this to work as expected on my test-blog–but I’ve also found the widget visibility settings to be a little brittle in the past, so if that doesn’t work, let me know and we can try something else.

    Hi Liz,

Tried that last night, to no avail. Gave up and went to bed. Got up this morning and thought I’d have a peek at the site. And lo and behold, it had worked! So apparently it takes a while for the change in the widget to sink in?

Thanks for your reply and the help.

    Best, Marleen

Very weird. It would require a refresh for the changes to show up–it shouldn’t take overnight. But, since it’s working now I guess that’s a mystery that can go unsolved ;)

Glad it’s working the way you want :)
