Disabling a Page

I am trying to deactivate a page. I’m afraid of removing it because it’s been designated as the site’s landing homepage. The site, while designed & managed under WP, is hosted by Gator. I was asked to redesign the drab site so I activated a new theme (Best Magazine) w/ additional plugins, while removing unnecessary widgets. I can see this particular page, which does not comply with the Magazine theme, & seems to be uneditable from my end, is still appearing as the website, even though I have completely redesigned the layout. Please help me safely get rid of this one page & successfully activate the new pages without damaging my friend’s URL navigation with Gator. Thank you.

This is WordPress.COM support and that site is not on our servers. Our WordPress.COM support docs do not apply to it. You are posting to the wrong support forum. For hosting issues contact your web host. For software support read on.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. We do not provide support for local installs of WordPress.ORG software, or for WordPress.ORG software installs on paid hosting, linked to WordPress.COM accounts with the Jetpack plugin so they display on the My Sites WordPress.COM account page.

It sounds like you need to change your sites homepage. I can help you with that!
Go to your Dashboard and click Customize. Then click on Static Front Page on the left hand side. Here you can change which page acts as your front page. After that you should be able to delete your other page.

Best Magazine is not found here https://wordpress.com/themes/ because it is a wordpress.ORG theme as one can see by searching https://wordpress.org/themes/search/Best%20Magazine/
Moreover, the person above is describing a site with plugins and that leads me to believe they are referring to WordPress.ORG site on paid hosting, hosted by Hostgator.
