disabling author box

    I can’t uncheck the option to disable the author box on my posts and I don’t know a lot about code so I can’t find the line to delete to remove that off of my themes code. can you help?

    Hi @mckenziemcafee,

    You can use the Content Options from your Customizer to modify the Author’s name displayed on your posts.

    Go to My Sites → Design → Customize → Content Options → uncheck the Display Author option.

    That site is not hosted on WordPress.com, and not using one of our themes, but using the open source WordPress.org software at another hosting provider. We’re only able to help with sites hosted on our servers at WordPress.com.

    Please ask the WordPress.org community for advice instead. They provide support for the version of WordPress you’re using:

    Alternatively you can try contacting support for the specific theme you’re using – if your theme includes an author bio with no option to hide it, they might at least be able to help with some custom CSS code to hide it that way.

    The Content Options feature is something specific to WordPress.com, and only available on certain themes, so it shouldn’t be suggested as a general solution for this question. In this case the OP’s mention of trying to delete a line from their theme’s code is also a clue that they’re not speaking of a WordPress.com site :)

    In general it’s always best to first make sure what site someone is working on, as only them can you be sure if you’re giving the correct instructions for their specific situation.
