Disabling Comments

I have unchecked the “Allow people to post comments on new articles” box and there is still a comments link at the bottom of each post–it doesn’t go anywhere but reloads the screen and puts up some related articles. So while people can’t comment, they might think they can, waste their time with the page reload, get confused by the related articles that aren’t from me, and annoyed, assuming that my blog commenting just doesn’t work instead of actually being disabled. I’d rather not waste their time and eliminate that misleading “comments” link. Is this something I need to address in the style sheet?

Thanks for reading this far and thank you for any help you can offer.

We need a link to your blog to be able to help.

Sorry about that, I thought it was in that form that autofilled, here it is in all its mundane non-glory:

That comments link is what you’re stuck with, alas, at WordPress.com. It’s probably related to the fact that the guts of the blogs are shared among all blogs using that theme on WP.com, so you can’t disable it. You can hide it if you’ve got really slick CSS skills and the paid CSS upgrade.

Ah, bummer. Thank you though, I was hoping I was just missing a checkbox somewhere. :)
