disabling comments

  I am trying to disable comments. Nothing I uncheck in the discussion settings seems to be working. And the pages don’t come with options of turning off comments like they do on wordpress.org.

  Sure they do. Turn off comments at Settings->Discussion and for pre-existing posts and pages, edit the post or page and disable them manually. I believe that’s in a box below the Write Post box.
