Disabling Comments on Individual Attachment Pages

  It seems there used to be a way to go into each media file and disable comments on its attachment page. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/can-you-disable-comments-on-an-attachment-page?replies=6#post-1329169
  Is there a current way to do this for images already posted – or will there be a way to do so in the future? Rather than only disabling comments for future posts?
