Disabling excerpts for tagged posts on 2010?
-
I just switched over to the 2010 layout, and while I love it, there is one thing that is bugging me so badly that I might have to switch again to a different theme if I can’t change this.
Is there any way to disable the use of excerpts when browsing via tags?
My blog is mostly beauty and style-related, so if someone is browsing via the “Outfit of the Day” tag, it’s a bit pointless if they can’t see the outfits without clicking into each individual post.
I was using Chateau before, and it gave full posts rather than excerpts, so I’m hoping I’ve just overlooked the setting to choose between excerpts and full posts. Can anyone make my day and show me where that might be?
I do have a few custom CSS edits on the layout, but nothing to interfere with the functionality at issue here, so I thought this would be a better place for this question than the CSS forum. Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Whether or not full posts display on dynamic Category, Tags and Archives pages is determined by the theme designer and cannot be changed with CSS editing.

Thanks– I had a bad feeling there was no way to do it via CSS, but it’s nice to have it confirmed.
Is there anything under the reading/settings/display options I can use, no?

Damn. Oh, well, off to find a new theme, then– should have done my research on pages functionality before spending so long customizing! I’ll learn from that mistake, for sure.
Thanks for the prompt replies; it’s appreciated.

You are welcome. If you do not mind me venturing to share this with you I have blogged for nearly 10 years now and none of my blogs show indications that visitors actually use the category and tags links. I find they use my index pages in my custom menu though like these two:

Not at all! I appreciate the input, thank you.
I do believe that tags are extremely important for navigation on a blog where there is no specific theme or defined focus (since it allows people to see at a glance what topics are covered most often), but you’re dead right about the custom menu up top.
I do have an index page listed on mine already, but I should possibly re-title it– and I’ll definitely have to look into adding another link or two to it, since it is where the eye falls when the page first loads.
Thanks for the tip!

Timethief has given you some excellent advice – I just wanted to add one more thing. Twenty Ten is a fairly old theme that isn’t responsive, so it doesn’t adjust to different screen sizes, like tablets or phones. You might want to look for a more modern, responsive theme.
Twenty Eleven is quite similar to Twenty Ten, but it’s responsive, so you might want to have a look. It also displays the full post on category and tag pages.
