Disabling follow button for logged-out users
-
As stated in the topic, I’d like to get rid the ‘follow’ button on the bottom-right corner of my website. I’ve tried to locate the checkbox in wp-admin, but it seems like it’s not there, as you can see on the screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/D6PaE
I’d really appreciate any help. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @mikas255,
That “follow” button is also known as the action bar.
https://en.blog.wordpress.com/2015/08/26/new-action-bar/With CSS, you can remove it by pasting the following code into your Custom CSS tab located in your customizer.
#actionbar { display: none; }Try it out and let me know how it goes.

Hello @pauloeaquino
Unfortunately, I’m currently on Personal plan, so it’s not possible for me to edit website’s CSS
-
Ah, I see. If you would like to remove the action bar, CSS is really the only way to do it.
If you were to have access to CSS, the code I provided previously would be able to take care of that.

Alright, thanks for your time then. Probably someday we’ll have enough funds to afford the Business Plan along with those handy SEO tools, but – as Aragorn once said at The Black Gate – it is not that day.
-
WordPress removed this checkbox in wp-admin about a year ago. Maybe if enough people ask/complain, they will reconsider that fateful decision :)
as Paulo said, currently your only option is to upgrade to Premium (not Business) to remove the follow button or the whole action bar by CSS.
I know of many people who’d like to remove this obtrusive follow button and instead use discreet footer or sidebar widgets to let visitors subscribe.

One can request the addition of a feature by creating a new thread in the Ideas Forum by using this link https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/ideas#postform. Staff automatically review all suggestions made in this forum, and then contact those who made the requests at the email address entered here https://wordpress.com/me/account if they choose to implement the suggestion.
-
We don’t mind if you make the request here, too, so long as it’s “modlook” tagged so staff won’t miss it.
I’ve filed the suggestion for you. :)
@baskervillefan shall I add a vote from you as well?

@supernovia: yes, that’d be nice. I’m all in favor of the good old checkbox to empower the bloggers :)
