Disabling Follow button – Personal Plan

    Dear WordPress Team,
Overall, I was pleased with having my new WordPress website. Although recently I have observed that for non-users a Follow button appears on the down-right corner, which was surprising. One might assume that having a hosting plan subscription allows a more clean appearance without any pop-ups. I am a little bit disappointed for this reason and would be hesitating when recommending WordPress to my colleagues. I have also learned that disabling the Follow button was possible about 3 years ago. So I would like to ask for having this feature again, together with current and future WordPress users who choose Personal Plan. Thank you, Eszter Kónya

  • Hi there,

The follow button cannot be disabled on WordPress.com site, and this has never been possible. It is automatically hidden for sites that publish only pages, not post, but if a site publishes posts, it can be followed.

On our Premium and Business plan you can use custom CSS to hide the button, but the ability for someone to follow a WordPress.com site cannot be disabled.
