Disabling image highlight on hover?

When hovering over an image on my sight, it highlights. I’d like that not to happen. How can I block that? Before the Site Editor I know I’d just add some CSS, but I don’t know what to do now. Does anyone know?

Also, when you say it “highlights” on hover, can you describe a bit more what you mean?

If you go to this post, hover your mouse over any image. You will see that its brightness is increased slightly.

Hm, I’m not seeing that TBH, but it could be my screen and/or browser settings or my eyes.
Regardless, it may be a result of linking those images from an offsite source (flicker). Does the same thing happen when you upload and insert an image from your site’s Media Library?

Hello again, after checking with three different browsers updated this morning, I still couldn’t see that highlighting. Then I noticed your “dark mode” switch and there it was obvious.
I still believe that hover highlighting occurs because those images are linked, in this case to their media file. The second post you shared illustrates this well because the map at the top of the post is not linked and does hot have a hover highlight state, while all the rest of the images do.

You’re right, it’s happening only when the image links to something. I’ll look into how I can disable that with CSS per the helpful link you shared. Thank you!

TBH, if you were linking to a larger version of the image I’d say it would be worth figuring it out. But it doesn’t seem to be the case? Regardless, you might want to check with the plugin author directly about disabling this.
