Disabling notifications and Social Media pings for select posts

I was assisting with a friend who is a freelancer configuring a WP platform for a small organization. A few posts from their indigenous platforms need to be migrated as is to the newer WP platform.

However the trick is that even though WP allows you to configure an older dates the notification that will be sent through Pings on Social Media platform etc does not seem to be configurable. And because of this, it could be embarassing for the customer to see a ping from a pre-dated post.

Is there an option to selectively toggle-off the pings?

  • Hi there,

You are referring to disabling notifications for one of the WordPress.com-native sites here? https://wordpress.com/sites/

Or are you referring to a WordPress site with another provider? If so can you share the URL so we can take a closer look? The behaviour is different for WordPress.com sites than it is for sites hosted elsewhere.

    Thanks for the additional info!

Thank you for quick clarifying for the WP.com sites. However this one is using WP.org installed on their own server. Any plugins that are available to manage this requirement?

  • Hello there,

To check, is the site connected to social media via a plugin? Jetpack for instance can power notifications to social media.

    Many thanks.
