Disabling reply to comments

    Hi

I have a quick question and I could use some support from people who know these things. I recently commented on a website (it has a wordpress theme so i just assumed it was hosted thought wordpress, though I could be silly), and the author of the article first said he welcomes questions and discussion, but since my feedback was negative he didn’t really want to engage any more. he said “I will end on this point”. When he said that I didn’t realise what he meant but then I could not reply to his comment any more. I contacted the website and they said that the only thing they could think of was that the website only allowed a certain number of replies. I could understand this, but there were only 5-6 replies. I am wondering if this is indeed possible or if the author of an article can disable replies if for instance they are critisised and want to have the last word on the issue. If that is the case, I would like to raise this as an issue with the owners of the website as it goes against their principles. I can still reply to the article but not to the person’s last comment, which I find a upsetting knowing that they could just decide to have the last word on that thread. Please note that this was an academic debate, and his article was based on exaggerated and false statements as I had evidence for the contrary. I merely presented my concerns as the article being unprofessional coming from him, and that his arguments were mere presumptions. Since his last comment was addressed to me, I think I should have the right to reply.

I feel silly it says I need help with my blog but it was a general question. Argh, sorry.

We cannot provide a definitive answer to your question. there is no URL provided for the blog you commented on. Suffice to say any blogger can disable, enable or limit comments. It is their prerogative to do so whenever they wish to. I have stopped posting approving comments from who wanted to go on and on and on without providing any new information at all.

P.S. Sorry about the missing words above. I am suffering from eye strain and exhaustion.
