Disabling the Two Step Authentication
-
I have another account (cenrak.wordpress.com) and I can’t get access to it because I changed cell phones and did not setup WP authenticator before formatting the old phone. I have access to the phone number and email address listed in my personal info in my old account (cenrak.wordpress.com). Plus, I don’t have a copy of the activation keys.
I did try different solutions that are mentioned and submitted by other users here in the forum. I tried to click on “Need more help?” in the reset password form, but guess what, I don’t have that button, http://d.pr/i/GTR1.
I tried the method suggested by one of the staff in a similar post (https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/unable-to-log-in-after-google-authenticator-unintentionally-deleted) but the link provided in the last reply does not have a contact form. After going throgh the help and search, it provides only “Ask the Community for Support”, which I am doing right now :)
Is there away to get the Two Step Authentication feature disabled in my old account so I can have access to it? or is there another way to get access?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Please visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
and click the “Need More Help” link to complete the form for account recovery. -

Hi,
The link you game me should show me something similar to http://en.support.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/lost_password.png?w=688 . However, this is what I see http://d.pr/i/GTR1. I checked that page with and without being logged in to WP.com. Both did not show “Need More Help”.
Thanks for your reply

I see that the “Need More Help” link has disappeared again! I believe this may be another crazymaking example of Staff disabling the link because they were away. I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Thanks timetheif. i am already subscribed. I have checked and the “Need More Help” is not there yet.

Good news! I went through all my old answers and located the Need More Help link.

so, I won’t be needing their support anymore for this issue.
I don’t know why, but when I put my username and password in the login form and click login, the site directs me to a page where I have to put the authentication code. However, when I replace my username with my email address (this is the weird pard, and I can’t reproduce it), the site directs me to a page to put my authentication code, but it gives me an option to send an SMS instead.
I did solve the problem. for mods, just ignore this thread.
Thanks timethief for your help and support

Hi there,
Sorry for the trouble you had with this, and thanks for updating us on the issue!
We just made some updates to how the two-step authentication process works. It sounds like you saw the old version of the authentication page when you tried to log in with your username. However, you should now be able to use either your username or email address to log in and get an SMS authentication code if needed.
