Disappearance of Comments and Likes in Notification Area

One of my followers sent me likes and comments on five images in different posting. I also received an email on each of those comments as I have email set up this way. I looked at the Notification list and saw the comments and likes there but did not have to time to respond. When I went back, I watched as each of these comments and then likes disappeared from the Notification list. I sent her an email asking her about this and she was not aware of this happening. At my request, I asked her to make another comment. She sent me an email saying that she had commented on my Preening image. I did not receive any notification nor email that the comment was made. I checked her status in Manage following and did not see anything unusual.
I’d like to get this resolved. Any suggestions?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Just to clarify, there are 5 tabs on the notifications centre on WordPress.com: All/unread/comments/follows/likes.
Are you sure the comments and likes are missing from the respective tabs, or all?
I am also tagging the post with “modlook” for the WordPress.com staff’s attention. They should be able to check if something is unexpected on your WordPress.com account.

Yes, I watched them disappear. I also went to my iPhone WordPress app and watched the posted comments disappear. I went to each posting and to see if the comments where there and they were not. Thanks for contacting WordPress staff on this.
Another twist to this is the commenter had to restart her WordPress app on her Mac because it stuck. I’ve asked her if she has received any responses to her posting since. I’ve not gotten an answer yet.

Hi – Please let me know which site this is occurring on. It sounds like there might be some comment moderation settings that need adjusted.

I’ve submitted a test comment that is awaiting moderation at https://allentimphotos2.wordpress.com/gallery/#jp-carousel-2889.
This is a setting that is enabled. When a visitor comes to your site and leaves a comment they will be able to type it and submit. After they submit it, the comment essentially disappears and there’s a note saying “comment awaiting moderation.”
You should be able to find those comments here: https://wordpress.com/comments/all/allentimphotos2.wordpress.com
Click on My Sites > Comments > Pending
Under the ‘All’ Comments tab you’ll see there are 3 comment there awaiting your approval.

Liz, I saw your posting and replied to it.
The problem involves just one person, Jane Lurie Photography https://janeluriephotography.wordpress.com. It was her comments and likes that disappeared. She has tried to comment on my site since the disappearance incident but the comment did not show up in the Notification nor did I get the email notification. I know this because she emailed separately about the comment. Somehow her comments have been blocked from my WordPress site.
The other strange part of this whole incident is I accidentally changed Jane Lurie Photography to Email New Comments to On in Mange Followed Sites and I started receiving her comments to others. I turned it off when I released what I’d done.
I look forward to resolving this issue.
