Disappearing Categories – Penscratch Theme

  Good morning. I set up a categories list a couple of days ago. It was visible on my blog yesterday,Feb 6 2015, and today it is not visible. Even after deleting the categories widget and setting it up again…it shows that it’s there in my list of sidebar widgets yet is invisible on my site.

  Kindly tell me what may be the problem. Thank you

  Hi,
  I had no trouble displaying a categories widget on a test website with the Penscratch theme activated. Have you modified the visibility settings?

  Another thing to look into would be your ability to add widgets other than the categories widget which would display below a certain point of the front page. If no widgets display below a certain point this could suggest a formatting issue in one or more of the posts on your front page. I would specifically begin by inspecting the content of the post displaying at the level where the widgets stop displaying (if that is the case). See the HTML Troubleshooting support page.

  Thank you for your suggestions. I actually figured it out on my own. I deleted the categories widget in the sidebar and before adding it again I went to appearance in the dashboard and found out that I put the categories widget in the “inactive widgets” section. Once I removed that I set up the categories widget and everything’s working now.
