Disappearing comments

  Hi, I use Blogger as my own blogging platform and keep a WordPress account to comment on many of my friends’ blogs who use WordPress. Lately, however, my comments on such blogs have been disappearing. I type the comment, press submit and then it vanishes. It’s not awaiting approval because there’s no message to say so. The page just reverts to a blank comment box, but I know I’m logged into WordPress because when I type in the box it tells me I’m commenting using my WordPress account. When I go back to the same post several days later, my comment is nowhere to be seen. Naturally, this is extremely frustrating because I like my friends to know that I have read and appreciated their posts, as they do mine.

  Any help?

  Hi there,

  Can you first please try clearing your browser cache and cookies, then log back into WordPress.com and see if this still happens.

  If it does, can you please give me a link to a post where you’ve tried to comment? For testing purposes it might even be better if you tried commenting on my blog – that way I can investigate and test without having to access someone else’s site. You can reach my blog by clicking on my username in this forum post.

  Thanks for your reply!

  I had already tried clearing my cache and cookies – I logged into WordPress.com again and tried commenting on your blog, but the same thing seemed to happen.

  Okay. Your comment landed in my spam folder, and your reply to this thread was also marked as spam, so it looks like Akismet thinks you are a spammer.

  Can you please contact Akismet support via this link:

  Contact Us

  Select the I think Akismet is catching my comments by mistake option on that form. Then they should be able to sort this out for you.

  As for the other sites where you tried to post, if you have another way to contact those bloggers you can ask them to check for your comments in the spam queue. If they mark it as not spam the comments will appear, and Akismet should realise you are not a spammer and stop spamming your comments.
