disappearing posts – no auto-save EVER
-
I just lost several hours of work, when the site inadvertently went from my draft to the home page. I couldn’t recover any of my composition of the last 2 hours of work. The photos I had uploaded and placed with in the text are all in the ‘media’ location. None appear in the no longer excisting text.
This is the third time that my text disappeared because your ‘safe’ function, which is supposedly always active, did nothing. I’m ready to leave and blast you in every social media setting, I can think off. Where’s my text????The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there,
I am really sorry for your frustration. I understand it completely.
Here is the latest version of today’s post that I see saved in our system:

Since you had several hours worth of work completed, I suspect this isn’t your entire piece.
Many issues can get in the way of the autosave function. This can sometimes be attributed to the wifi connection at the time you’re writing, or any extensions running on your browser, of instance.
We can certainly test those issues, if you’d like.
To protect your work, I also highly suggest clicking Save throughout your work process. I do this all the time regardless of what software I’m using. I always want to safeguard myself. Clicking save, of course, won’t publish the work. However, it will insure that your draft is indeed saved on the server.
I am not certain if you are using our classic posting experience, or our new and improved one. You may opt for whichever works best for you.

Some anti-virus plugins, for instance, interfere with auto-functions.
Here are the instructions to turn off extensions for your browser (Chrome):

Fine, Robyn, how often do you save your work? Every 2 seconds or more often than that?
It happened again just now, while I was writing a caption for an image. As I was writing “… while” my screen reverted to the WP home page, losing all writing of the past 30 min or so. Uploaded pictures are still in the ‘media’ file, even the one for which I was writing the caption. No text remained, however, just as before.
Do you really think, this is my fault, as you told me yesterday? REALLY? -
Hi again,
I want to clear something up: I don’t think any of this is your fault at all. Sorry if you were given that impression.
It will still help me troubleshoot your problem if you can tell me which version of the editor you’re using:
New: https://wordpress.com/post/76005899/new/?optin
Classic: https://photoleraclaudinha.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php
Also, when you’re returned to that WordPress.com home page, are you still logged in? If you are, you’d be taken directly to your Reader at WordPress.com.
If you’re not logged in, you’d see this:

It depends. Every five minutes or so, I suppose. I’ve just always automatically saved my work, no matter what I’m working on. I think my computer classes in high school must have drilled that into my head! Just an auto-pilot response at this point.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.
