I’m having a serious problem, when I posted a pic on my site with the caption as my Blog logo… it looked fine but when I posted an ADDITIONAL story the next day, the picture with all my other stories were gone, I don’t know why.. They didn’t even move down they were just gone… How do I stop my stories from and previously posted pics from disappearing? is it just that I only have one page of room to publish stories and pictures on??

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I had a problem similar to yours this morning. I finally resolved it myself, by sheer luck! I deleted a page, instead of an article posted on it, by mistake. I succeded in retreiving my page, but all my articles were gone. I located them through the dashboard – articles, all were there, but I just couldn’t put them back on the page. After an infuriating hour or so, I stumbled upon Settings (also through the dasboard) – Reading (I suppose it’s what it’s called in English, my site is in French). I then noticed that my home page was well identified as static, but no page was assigned to my articles. I corrected it and all my articles reappeared. I hope this helps…

it looked fine but when I posted an ADDITIONAL story the next day, the picture with all my other stories were gone.

Can you provide the URL or the title of the missing post? What do you mean by “picture with all of my other stories”?

Sure… What I mean is that with each story I post the first one moves down Under the next, But instead of the picture and the other story moving down, they were just gone from the page, I though with each story you’d just have to SCROLL downwards there were TWO stories and a Picture with a caption for my site, and the LAST story I published onto the page was AT THE TOP, and everything previous to the last story was gone, I don’t know if they moved or were just GONE… I thought I”d have ENOUGH room on the page for more than three stories and pictures. How did that happen??

    @bonitaaa99.

each story I post the first one moves down Under the next

First, by “story” do you mean post?

But instead of the picture and the other story moving down, they were just gone from the page, I though with each story you’d just have to SCROLL downwards there were TWO stories and a Picture with a caption for my site…

I’m having a bit of trouble following what you’re describing. There are four posts displayed on the front page. I recall that there was a different one, one with a “Continue Reading” tab, the last time I looked. Have you published more posts than are appearing?

If you are referring to adding material to a previously published “story,” or post, by deleting what was in the post editor and replacing it with new material, that won’t happen.

musicdoc1……… yeah you are right. NOW after I was working on the page (don’t know what I did) but yes NOW I can see all the Posts. You’re right again, I guess I mean ”Posts” NOT stories. …. Any who, I CAN see all the POSTS now but did you notice where I had the picture with a Title over it and a Caption under the picture? ………. Well I meant for that to be the HEADER … and I meant for it to STAY at the TOP of the page, … I did go back in (don’t know what the heck I’m doing) But this time I managed to get the picture to STAY at the top of the page as a header but don’t know how to get a Title or Caption in that Header.

but did you notice where I had the picture with a Title over it and a Caption under the picture? ………. Well I meant for that to be the HEADER …

I think I get you now. Do you mean a featured image? This theme does have a featured image option for posts. I believe they’re supposed to display not on the front page, but above the post page displayed, for example, when you click on the post title. I’m not sure if your selected featured images are displaying above the individual posts on your blog, because in each case the image that displays seems to be your website logo.

    See, for example
    https://bonitaaa99.wordpress.com/2014/12/31/detroit-news-goes-crazy-over-jim-harbaugh/
    https://bonitaaa99.wordpress.com/2014/12/29/project-runway-2/
    https://bonitaaa99.wordpress.com/2014/12/29/the-real-housewives-of-atlanta/

However, I’m having trouble getting featured images to display on a test site with the Capoverso theme activated. I’ve tried small, medium and large-width images, from under 400 to over 1500 pixels wide.

I’ll mark the thread for Staff attention, because it looks like I may not be able to resolve the issue.

Also a custom header, uploaded and saved at Appearance > Header, fails to display with this theme on my test website.

Right that’s what I clicked on to make the ”website logo” to get that image to stick and stay there…. I Guess I was supposed to use “featured images” ?? I think I chose ”featured images” the first time and that’s how the image ended up in the middle of the page BELOW one of my post. ….. I just want a HEADER at the TOP of the page and I thought choosing ”website logo” was the way to do that, but I can’t get the caption up there with it.
Maybe I can try Appearance >> Header.. DANG this is irritating, if I knew how to mark my thread for ”Staff Attention” I would, but I’ll try your suggestion with the Appearance >Header though..
Thanks so much. .. Keep me up to date with your project and I’ll let you know how mine goes… Thanks again.

Maybe I can try Appearance >> Header..

You have my sympathy. I added one header at Appearance header, and another at the Customizer, and neither one is displayed. Also, all of the feature images I uploaded failed to display.

if I knew how to mark my thread for ”Staff Attention” I would

You’re smart to ask. I’ve already done it here, but in the future just add “modlook” to the tags box in the right sidebar. “Mod” is short for moderator I presume.

    @bonitaaa99

There are two ways to keep your image at the top of your site.

The first option is to use the site logo feature. Site Logo Images can’t have captions the way images in posts do; that’s why you haven’t been able to add a caption to that image. I see you’ve added a site logo already, so if this is working the way you want, you are set.

Another option is to make the intro post, “Here’s were I dish the Tea. Here is where the Tea is spilled,” sticky. That will keep that post at the top of your posts page, no matter how many other posts you create.

Here’s how to make a post sticky:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-visibility/#sticky-posts

Additionally, it seems there is some confusion about the difference between site logo, site header and featured images.

Featured Images are attached to a single post or page as a way to enhance the content of that piece of content. While they play a prominent role in a lot of sites, they are always connected to specific posts or pages.

    Here’s more on Featured Images:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/

Site Logos on the other hand are more like the brand of your site. They will always appear at the top of your site, but they don’t have captions.

    Here’s more on site logos:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/site-logo/

Finally, some themes have header images. They are usually bigger than site logos and display differently with different themes. Your theme doesn’t include a header, which might be adding to the confusion.

Here’s more about how headers work:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/custom-header-image/

I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Oh thank you soooo much.. all of your URL's a BIG help. I's so lost with all of this is new to me. I'm gonna try to go in today and add a caption to the Logo I posted. Eventually I want to get some ad hosts onto my page but I gotta build some traffic to the page first. Do you have any ad hosts on your page? Let me know.
Okay thanks again.. Very much appreciated.

Another problem I was told I can go to the “visibility” page to get my captions to logo to STICK and stay stuck to the TOP of my Blog page.. But for the life of me I CAN’T get to the ‘visibility’ page of my published post. it gives directions but I can NOT find it. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-visibility/

I’m gonna try to go in today and add a caption to the Logo I posted

Just to be clear, it’s not possible to add a caption to a logo. You can only add a caption to a photo in a post. If you want that post to stay at the top of your posts page you can make it sticky.

Eventually I want to get some ad hosts onto my page but I gotta build some traffic to the page first. Do you have any ad hosts on your page?

We do offer one program for advertising, you can learn more about it, as well as what isn’t allowed in terms of advertising here:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/

I was told I can go to the “visibility” page to get my captions to logo to STICK and stay stuck to the TOP of my Blog page..

The post visibility options explained in the support document you shared are found in the right column on each post’s edit page. You’ll need to click the word “edit” next to “Visibility” to see the sticky post option.

Alternatively, you can use the quick edit features on your all posts page (linked below)

    https://bonitaaa99.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php

Just hover over the title of the page until you see the “Quick Edit” link. Click the link and then check the “make this post sticky” box.

I think that answers all of your questions, but if I missed anything, please let me know!

LizTheFair …. thanks so much again. I figured it out, I did it, I posted a title under my Logo and made it stick per your instructions. The hardest thing is finding the and getting to the pages you showed me in the ”support” url’s. Support can tell you were to go… but the hardest part is GETTING TO and find the page or section to go, but I did find it finally.
