disappearing widget
-
I’m a total beginer. So here are three questions in one.
1 When I move a new widget to my side bar and save it everything else on the bar
disappears. Is that normal?
2.My new widget is rss 1 in which I have typed my blog address with /feed at the
end of it. Is that all I have to do to make my rss available to others ?
3 When I click on this new widget I am just getting my blog and not a feed . Is that
normal? -
1. If it is the first widget you are moving there then it will displace the default widgets – so yes. If it is not the first then no.
2. Your rss is available without doing that – you do not need to do anything as it is automatically available.
3. Yes – the rss widget is pointing at your feed and responding with the feed from your site. It is not needed. -
thank you ozrisk
I had replaced my original side bar with some catagories and now when I drag an rss widget
there they vanish.
Does having an rss widget actually make any difference? -
The RSS widget is for the RSS feeds from other sites. It makes a list of the most receont posts from the others sites. if you want something simular for your own site, use the Latest Posts widget.

thank you all. I’m as I say a beginer and I’ve read all the faq’s about rss and have checked up
about it on other sites and even managed to get a few of my friends feeds through Bloglines
and Google reader and in between that have gone so far as to watch Youtube videos about
it but still don’t know what they are about . If anyone can recomment a site for really slow
idiotic non technical folks like me it would be great.
…….thank you all for your help -
drmike…thanks to your reply to the other member, the light bulb went on over my head. I, too, thought the widget was there for any theme that might not have its feeds built in. So now I have a wonderful recipe feed on my food blog and you’ve helped me look a lot more clever than I really am.
I’d take my hat off to you but that bulb’s in the way!
